This lamp is easily installed on your tent. It doesn't throw the kind of bright white light that can be a little jarring (think of those cars with the super-bright headlights), this light is more a creamy yellow, gentler on the eyes. If you have a small tent it will work well. Larger tents will need two or more lamps. The lamp does feel heavy for its size due to the 4 AA batteries and the two magnets. The magnets are very powerful- don't store this near any credit cards or other items that would be affected by the magnetism. Also, I recommend putting something (thin cardboard, fabric swatch) between both sides of the magnet to protect the fabric of your tent.
